Drop In Class Descriptions & Schedules

No Bun Ballet

This is a space for you to reintroduce your bodies to your technique basics. An open level class for those who have been training with VA for a few seasons now or who have previous class experience. This is a low impact, medium/ high energy class designed to tighten your core and increase your strength – each week will build from the previous week’s exercises. Allyn has designed this class to safely teach adults of all abilities.

Open Jazz

This class is great for anyone looking for a deeper dive into jazz technique. Expect a solid dance warm up, across the floor exercises, and a combo to tie it all together. Class will be led in a variety of jazz styles from Broadway to lyrical, commercial and contemporary.

Open Tap

Dust off your old shoes or try it out for the first time. This beginner class will review basics and focus on Broadway tap essentials – buffaloes, paradiddles, and time steps to name a few! If you do not have a pair of tap shoes, we have pairs for you to try or purchase. Firm soled sneakers or character shoes will also do the trick.

Intro to VA

This is a VA classic, the perfect place to start for beginners and anyone looking for an all around great dance class. We’ve included all the foundations of VA’s technique and style into this one! Some super sassy dance cardio and across the floor progressions, along with tantalizing floorwork and sexy choreography. This high energy class can be done in heels or without if dance is new to you, and will 100% boost your confidence.

Summer Training

Advanced VA Technique

This mini session is intended for dancers with years of experience. Class will focus on the necessary dance foundations to achieve VA performance choreography. Expect detailed instruction, specific feedback, and technical corrections while developing the lines, extension, and style that VA is known for.

Advanced VA Technique is a required pre season class for all participants of our Professional Performance Program and strongly recommended for dancers interested in more performance opportunities with VA. Available to dancers 16 years and up.

Advanced Workshop Series

ur summer workshop series focuses on more advanced training opportunities. Designed for the intermediate and up dancer looking for a challenge. Classes are taught in a variety of styles by VA team leaders, Kate, Becky, and Allyn, but you can expect foundations, foundations, foundations! Advanced does not always mean fast. Advanced does not need more choreography. Advanced doesn’t have to have tricks. Come learn the control to command the stage.

Available to dancers 17 years and up.

Not advanced? Our Open Drop In classes are recommended to participants with less experience.

Advanced Sensual Floor with Kate

Starting with some conditioning and a good stretch, come explore your sexy side through floor balances and inversion tricks. A strong body that is injury free is best for this one, but bring your knee pads.

Advanced Contemporary Chair with Allyn

A contemporary class with the additional fun (or challenge?) of a chair. You will jump right in with a full body warm-up then get familiar with yourself on a chair and dive into a fun combo. We will focus on musicality, lines, performance, and how to hold yourself on a chair without walking away bruised.

Advanced Showgirls with Becky

Dance is a team sport! This workshop is a snapshot of showgirl-style performance. Focusing on true group choreography, expect to move in formation, changing weight, place and directions as one. Including head and arm lines, we might even navigate prop use too.

Advanced Heels with Kate

We walk with intention. We pose with confidence. We use all of our ballet and jazz foundations to execute a single moment. Heels is dance technique first – lines, alignment, and extension. Expect a jazz tech style warm up, across the floor foundations, and choreography that includes floorwork.

Community Kick Off Pre-Season Intensive

Join us for this 3 day intensive designed to set up our Community Kick Off dancers for performance success. Open to all dancers, ages 17 and up, at the intermediate level or higher. Over the three days, we’ll progress through ballet and jazz foundations, focusing on alignment and extension for strong kicks, and some precision heels choreography.
